The fifth grade students have finished up another year of art. It's been great getting to know them over the years and I wish them the best of luck at Urbana Middle School. Keep up the good work!
26.B.2d Visual Arts: Demonstrate knowledge and skills to create works of visual art using problem solving, observing, designing, sketching and constructing.
![]() This year the 5th grade students will be creating one or two point perspective drawings to submit to the Boneyard Arts Festival. We had a quick review of the two types of perspective drawings and the students chose what style they wanted to use for their drawing. We used color pencils after our initial sketch was completed. What is a tint of a color? What is a shade of a color? In art, a tint is a color diluted with white. A shade is the opposite, it has black added to it. We each chose a color to create four different tints, and 4 different shades. We used tempera paints and carefully mixed our colors. We then created a scale going from lightest to darkest. 25.A.2d Visual Arts: Identify and describe the elements of 2- and 3-dimensional space, figure ground, value and form; the principles of rhythm, size, proportion and composition; and the expressive qualities of symbol and story.
